HP Omen 16 The Ryzen AI 7 and RTX 5060 configuration briefly fell to $1,799 before Amazon restored its previous price.
Amazon’s 32GB version of the HP Omen 16 is back at $1,999 after briefly dropping to $1,799 on September 30. That temporary 10% discount marked a 30 day low for the configuration, but the lower price was no longer available when checked on October 1.
The laptop pairs AMD’s Ryzen AI 7 350 processor with Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 5060 Laptop GPU, 32GB of DDR5 memory, and a 1TB SSD. While the expired discount made the configuration more competitive, the return to $1,999 changes the value calculation for buyers comparing it with other RTX 5060 laptops.
AMD’s Ryzen AI 7 350 brings 8 CPU cores, 16 threads, and a dedicated neural processing unit rated at up to 50 TOPS. TOPS means tera operations per second and provides a rough measure of how quickly a processor can handle certain AI calculations.
Nvidia’s RTX 5060 adds 8GB of GDDR7 memory and Blackwell graphics architecture. It also supports DLSS 4, including multi frame generation, which uses AI to generate additional frames between traditionally rendered frames in supported games.
The RTX 5060 Gets A Generous Power Budget
Laptop GPU names can hide large performance differences because manufacturers choose different power limits.
HP rates the RTX 5060 implementation in this Omen 16 platform at up to 115W TGP. Nvidia officially specifies 45W to 100W of GPU subsystem power for the RTX 5060 Laptop GPU, with laptop makers able to use additional dynamic power management.
That places this Omen closer to the performance focused end of RTX 5060 implementations rather than the lower power versions found in thinner machines.
LaptopMedia tested the current Omen 16 16 ap0000 chassis family, which includes Ryzen AI 7 350 and RTX 5060 configurations. Its November 2025 review praised the thermal design during sustained workloads.
LaptopMedia described the chassis as delivering “cool, quiet, and incredibly stable performance.”
That result comes from the same updated Omen 16 platform, but not necessarily the exact 32GB retail configuration sold through Amazon. Processor choice, graphics settings, room temperature, and power mode can still affect thermals.
The Screen Specification Needs Some Clarification
Amazon’s product title calls this a 2K gaming laptop, but the detailed specifications tell a different story.
This configuration uses a 16 inch IPS panel with a 1920 by 1200 resolution, 165Hz refresh rate, 3ms response time, 400 nit rated brightness, and 100% sRGB color coverage.
The 1920 by 1200 resolution is a sensible match for an RTX 5060. It places less pressure on the GPU’s 8GB of memory than a 2560 by 1600 panel while still providing more vertical space than a standard 1920 by 1080 screen.
HP’s 165Hz panel also gives competitive games enough display headroom when the GPU produces high frame rates.
The NPU Has Practical Windows Uses
The RTX 5060 can accelerate workloads in Blender, DaVinci Resolve, and Adobe Premiere Pro. The 32GB memory capacity also gives creators more room for larger projects, high resolution timelines, and heavy multitasking than a typical 16GB configuration.
AMD’s 50 TOPS NPU has a more specific role. Windows Studio Effects can use compatible NPUs for features such as automatic framing during video calls, keeping the user centered as they move in front of the camera.
Other supported effects include background blur, eye contact correction, and voice focus. These tasks can run on the NPU instead of relying entirely on the CPU or RTX 5060.
The discrete GPU remains more important for Blender rendering, CUDA applications, gaming, and many local AI workloads because its 8GB of dedicated GDDR7 memory gives software direct access to Nvidia’s graphics and compute hardware.
The Current $1,999 Price Changes The Calculation
At $1,799, the Omen 16 offered a stronger case against competing RTX 5060 laptops because it combined 32GB of memory, 1TB storage, a relatively high power GPU implementation, and AMD’s latest AI focused processor.
At $1,999, those specifications remain capable, but the pricing advantage is less clear. Buyers now have more reason to compare competing RTX 5060 systems, particularly models with higher resolution displays or similar GPU power limits.
The short lived discount still matters because it establishes a recent reference point. Anyone considering this configuration may want to watch for another drop toward $1,799 rather than assuming the current $1,999 price represents its best recent value.
